A Beginner’s Guide to Sunrise Yoga at Victoria Falls

January 19, 2026

Yoga at Victoria Falls is delivered in association with our partner Victoria Falls Yoga, and it’s designed for exactly the guest who’s never done anything like it before. Classes are gentle, guided, and paced around the setting rather than a fixed sequence — the point is to be there for sunrise, not to perform.

Sessions typically run 45 to 60 minutes on a platform within sight or sound of the falls, mist drifting across depending on the wind and season. Mats, water and a guide are provided; you bring layers, since mornings by the gorge start cool.

No prior yoga experience is required, and every class is scaled to the group in the room. If you’ve been putting off a retreat because you’re worried about keeping up, this is usually the session that puts that worry to rest.

What a Session Actually Feels Like

Expect a slower entrance than a studio class — a few minutes simply standing at the rail, taking in the mist and the noise, before the instructor begins. From there the sequence is deliberately unhurried: standing poses, gentle twists, and long holds that give you time to actually notice where you are.

The falls themselves add a variable no studio can — spray drifting across the platform depending on wind and season, occasional rainbows in the morning light, and the constant low roar underneath everything. Guests often say the sound is what stays with them longest, more than any single pose.

Common Questions First-Timers Ask

Will I get wet from the spray? Sometimes, depending on wind and season — light mist rather than a soaking, and instructors position the group accordingly. Bring a light layer you don’t mind getting slightly damp during the wetter months, roughly February through May.

Is the platform safe and stable? Yes — sessions are held on secure, purpose-built viewing areas, not the falls’ edge itself, and an instructor is present throughout for both the practice and general orientation.

What if I’m not a morning person? You’ll have plenty of company — most guests tell us the discomfort of the early alarm disappears within about ninety seconds of arriving at the platform. The light and the sound do the rest of the convincing.
